About Buland Darwaza, Buland Darwaza Fatehpur Sikri, India
Buland Darwaza Fatehpur Sikri: The walled city of Fatehpur Sikri was built under the surveillance of Akbar as a symbol of celebration for Babur’s victory over Rana Sanga who was a famous Rajput warrior. Situated at a distance of 43 kilometers from the city of Agra, famous for the Taj Mahal, Fatehpur Sikri is no less magnificent in its appeal and splendidness. It was the political capital of the Mughal Empire under Akbar from 1571 to 1575.Akbar had visited Sikri to visit Sheikh Salim Chisti who was responsible for predicting the birth of his son. After the success of the prediction, Akbar named his son as Salim and converted the city into the political
capital of the Mughal Empire. Later on, this plan had to be cancelled due to the problem of water shortage in the city.

The most important factor of Fatehpur Sikri is that it is splendid for its architectural designs which are not only a reflection of the Islamic architecture but also the Hindu architecture. It is also a reflection of the Bengali and Gujrati architecture. The beautiful walled place encompasses Diwani-i- am, Diwani-i –khas, Paanch Mahal, Birbal Bhawan, Jodha Bai Palace, Mausoleum of Saleem Chisti, Jama Masjid and Buland Darwaza. Although all these places are worth being visited, yet it is Buland Darwaza that takes the crown for its remarkable architectural quality and impeccable designs. Built of red sandstone it is the highest gateway of the world. It is a huge structure with a height of 175 feet.

A visit to the city of Delhi entails a visit to Fatehpur Sikri. Delhi is an amalgam of all the cultures, be it British Indian or Mughal. Therefore the culture of Delhi also reflects its hybridity. Fatehpur Sikri is one such example of cultural hybridity. A trip to Agra where one usually goes to visit the Taj Mahal along with the Agra Fort also entails a visit to the Fatehpur Sikri.

A visit to Agra without a visit to Fatehpur Sikri is like a trip incomplete. Although it is a few kilometers away from the heart of Agra, yet it is a spot that is a must visit for those who has embarked on an Agra trip in order to visit the historical monuments that has survived the hands of time and has become immortal in the eyes of the perceivers.

No doubt, Fatehpur Sikri is one such example that is worth taking the trouble of traveling to a distant location just to have the pleasures of a monument built as an epitome of celebratory spirit under the command the Akbar, the Great. The extraordinary way in which the varied cultures of Hinduism and Islam have been dutifully portrayed is impeccable to watch and observe with naked eyes. A description of the same in history books falls far short of its actual dignity. The architecture is such that it can stand in competition with the modern buildings constructed with Buland Darwaza Fatehpur Sikri
mature scientific and technological knowledge. It is a wonder to even imagine that the architects of such an ancient era had knowledge enough to construct such monuments as grand as those built under the Mughal emperors.
