Nilgiri Hills are a range of mountains with at least 24 peaks above 2,000 meters (6,562 ft), in the western most part of Tamil Nadu at the junction of Karnataka and Kerala states in Southern India. Ooty was found by British on a plane at Nilgiri Hills. Ooty is extended till the slopes of the Nilgiri Hills, and now its name has been changed to Udagamandalam. Ooty is very famous hill station in south part of India. For everyone, even three days vacation in Ooty can give memorable experience in one’s life. Actually, this is the honeymoon destination.
You can visit the following Hills stations:
Ooty: This is also called as Udagamandalam. This city is famously known as Queen of hill stations. Botanical garden and Doddabetta are the major attractions of the Ooty.

It is situated 16 km away from the Udagamandalam. Kodanad viewpoint, Elk falls, and Catherine falls are the major attraction places to visit.

Coonoor: This is located on the east side of the Doddabetta range. It is the 2nd largest hill station in the Nilgiris. This place is situated 19 km away from Ooty.

Main Attractions of Nilgiri Hills:

Mudumalai Wild Santuary: This sanctuary is located in Mysore up to Ooty highway. The river called Mayyar separates Bandipur sanctuary to Mudumalai.

Ooty Lake: This Lake is an artificial lake. The added attraction of Ooty Lake is the lake garden.

Pykara: The main attraction of this place is Toda settlements, well protected fenced shoals, and undisturbed grassy field. Pykara falls, Pykara Dam and reservoir attract many tourists.

Kodanad Viewpoint:
Here, the eastern slopes of the Nilgiris and panoramic view of the plains are famous.

Laws Falls: These falls are famous for picnic spot, in the Coonoor Ghat. Falls height is about 180 feet.

Best time to visit Nilgiri Hills:
Nilgiri Hills are never really out of season. You can choose to visit various hill stations according to season. While the best season to visit Ooty is June to February, April to June is the best season to visit Coonoor.
