Maharashtra is rich a state located on western coast of India. This state shares its borders with Karnataka to south, Gujrat and Dadar Haveli to west, Madyapradesh to north east, Chhattisgarh to east and Andhra Pradesh to southeast. Marathi is official and widely spoken language.  “Mumbai” is the capital city of Maharashtra.

Maharastra has glorious history. Chatrapathi Shivaji led a strong foundation to build this state in 17th century. It has many prominent cities such as Nasik, Pune, Nagpur, Aurangabad, Nashik, and Sholapur. There are various modes of transport
such as railway, airway and waterway to reach Mumbai from other parts of India .These cities are well connected with roadway and railway transport.

Nashik is the holy city, many Hindus throughout India come here for pilgrimage. Kumbh mela is organized once in every three years. Pune is called as the queen of the Deccan and Oxford of the East, it is famous for industrial hubs and commercial hub. Nagpur is famous for orange orchards. Aurangabad is a historical city with monuments such as Bibi Ka Maqbara. Sholapur is prominent center of Jains.

There are 350 forts in Maharashtra. Vijay Durga fort and Shimdurg fort , where Chatrapathi Shivaji was   prominent. There are many caves in Maharashtra , they are Ajantha caves, Aurangabad caves, Elephanta caves, Ellora caves, Kanherei caves, Karla and Bhaja caves , Pandavleni caves and Pitalkhora caves, Ajantha Elephanta, Ellora and Aurangabad caves are main tourist attraction.

Maharashtra  is also gifted with many enchanting hill stations .They are Amboli, Bhandardara, Chikaldhara, Jawhar, Lonavala and Khandala, Mahabaleshwar, Malshejghat,  Matheran, Panchgani, Panhala, Sawantwadi and Toranmal.

Maharashtra is guarded by Arabian Sea on western side. This coastal line has many beaches like Basein,  Dahan bordi, Ganapatipule, Harnai, Juhu beach, Mandwa Kihim,  Madh island beach,Marine drive, Marve Manori Gorai, Murud Janjira, Shriwardhan, Tarkali, Veleshwar, Vengurla Malvan and Vijaydurg Sindhudurg.

Maharashtra  possess many monuments such as Agakhan palace, Chand Minar ,Gateway of India, Kesari Wada, Khuldabad, Lal Mahal, Raste Wada, Shaniwar Wada, Vishrambag Wada.Gate way of India is most  popular as it is located in heart of Mumbai. Chandminar in Daulatabad gives insight into Mughal palaces.

Maharashtra with diverse culture and rich cultural heritage has many places of worship. They are many famous temples such as Mumba Devi temple, ofMumbai, Kailash temple in Aurangabad. Pandharpur, Shirdi, Bahubali temple are other famous temples. It has other religious places like Hazi Ali tomb, Takhat Sachkhand Shri Hazur Abchalnagar Sahib of Naned and Osho ashram in Pune.

Maharashtra is famous for its mouth watering spicy Konkan and Vardi cuisines. Chats are classic examples of this unique taste. Visit to Maharashtra will be wonderful and memorable experience  with memories to  cherish forever.
