Jharkhand is located in eastern part of the India. Jharkhand is a newly formed state segregated from Bihar. Jharkhand is bordered by Bihar on north, Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh on west, Orissa on south and West Bengal on East. The capital of Jharkhand is Ranchi, and some major cities are Dhanbad, Sindri, Jamshedpur, Hazaribagh, Deoghar and Bokaro.
Jharkhand is headed by a governor, who is appointed by the President of India. Jharkhand is a highly industrialized state and it concentrates on growth of other industrial cities like, Jamshedpur, Bokaro Steel City, Ranchi and Dhanbad. These industries are basically steel industries as it has huge reserve of iron ores.

"Jharkhand" Is derived from Sanskrit word” Jharkande” which literally means dense forest. Total population of Jharkhand is 26.93 million, female population is 13.08 million and male population is 13.88 million. Population of tribals is predominant in many districts of Jharkand. There are 32 different tribal groups, they are Baiga, Bathudi, Asur, Banjara, Binjhia, Bedia, Birjia, Birhor, Chick Baraik, Chero, Garait, Gond, Kharwar, Karmali, Kisan, Khond, Kora, Lohra, Korwa, Mal Paharia, Mahli, Oraon, Munda, Santal, Parhaiya, Savar, Sauria Paharia, Bhumij, Savar, Kanwar and Kol.

There are three main families of language spoken in Jharkand. First language is Munda; this includes Mundari, Santhali, Kharia, Ho, Kurmali languages. Second language is Dravidian language, and these are in Korwa, Oraon or Kurukh and Paharia or Malto. Third language is Indo Aryan language such as Sadri, Hindi, Nagpuri, Khortha, Oriya, Urdu and Bengali. Apart from these languages many people speak blend of Bengali and Oriya.

Jharkand has huge stock of domestic animal, such as crossbred local cattle, Chhotanagpuri sheep, Black Bengal goat, local buffalo, murrah, broilers and ducks of several varieties. It has many veterinary hospitals throughout state. Skilled professionals are appointed as Touring Veterinary Officers, Touring Veterinary officers, Block Animal Husbandry officers, Veterinary Surgeons to support the agricultural industry and Assistant Poultry officers.

Jharkhand has network of both Government and private schools throughout state.  The standards of teaching vary from place to place, as well from school to school.

Jharkhand has many cultural events like Barakar, Mayurakshi, Damodar, Sankh, Koyal, and Barakar. Festivals like Karma, Sarhul, Badna, Sohrai, Id, Christmas, Tusu, Dusserha and Holi are celebrated grandly with lots of excitement and participation.
