Lakshmi Pooja is carried out as the most liked hindu festival.
In India the festival Diwali is one of the biggest and the most liked Indian festival. This is because of the fact that it is a festival of lights and it is celebrated around the globe with joy and love. And one of the most important features of the Diwali celebrations is the worship of goddess Lakshmi and is popularly known as Lakshmi Pooja.
Maa or Goddess Lakshmi is the one who is considered to be the goddess of good fortune, beauty, light and wealth is worshipped on the auspicious occasion of the Diwali in
order to bring peace, prosperity and wealth in the family. Maa Lakshmi is also worshiped by number of people of Hindu religion in order to bring prosperity and good fortune in near future. It is however considered or said that Maa Lakshmi does not reside for long with anyone who is not active or hardworking or lazy and messy or untidy or the one who desires her presence only as wealth. This is the only reason why people clean their houses before Maa Lakshmi Pooja and worship her with immense sincerity and devotion as everyone understands the need of her presence in their lives.

Maa Lakshmi is a daughter of the very clever Bhrigu. There are number of legends who say that Maa Lakshmi took refuge in the ocean or sea of milk when all the gods were sent into exile. It is also considered as that Maa Lakshmi was reborn when all the lords and Demons churned the ocean of milk in order to fetch ‘Amrut’. The Amrut is a drink which is considered to be the drink of immortality or the drink which makes you immortal.
However it is considered that after having the glimpse of the Maa Lakshmi all gods fell in love with her. Lord Shiva also

claimed Ma Lakshmi as his wife but he was given moon. Later marriage of Maa Lakshmi was performed with god Vishnu and it is also said that Lord Vishnu was the preferred choice of Maa Lakshmi.
