Information on Assam, About Assam
Dispur is the capital of Assam and the location of Assam is northeastern India. Guwahati is the main city of Assam and location of Guwahati is in the south eastern Himalayas. These Himalaya surroundings have Barak River, Brahmaputra, North Cachar Hills and karbi Anglong. And also six states are found surrounding the Assam, such as Nagaland, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya and Tripur. These six states link India via West Bengal and this narrow strip is called Chicken's neck or Siliguri Corridor. The climate, the people and culture of Assam is quite based on South East Asia.
Assam became the part of British India and in 1826 Yandaboo occupied the British region. It is one of the big biodiversity areas and also Assam is famous for Tea.

Assam has very big forest, when compared to Asian forests. Here we can find the Asian elephants, rhinoceros, special birds and Indian tiger etc. Assam is enclosed with lush greedy and river Brahmaputra.
Assam is very famous about tea leaves because when compare to world Assam has the very big portion to produce tea. Here four types of languages are in use, Assamese literature, Assamese language, Sylheti language and Bodo language.

Festivals: Bihu is the most traditional festival and also common for all Assam people and one more traditional festival is Durga Puja. In spring season and in the starting of sowing season these people celebrate three festivals like Bohog, Bihus or Rongali. Rongali Bihu is associated with Bihu dance and bihu songs. Goru Bihu is the first day of Rongali bihu and the specialty of Goru Bihu is they are giving more care for cows (cow bath).

In the history of Art, Assam is performing well and they are well performed in traditional arts like traditional dance, traditional music, traditional songs, etc. Ankiya Nat or Onkeeya Naat dance is the famous traditional dance of Assam. Assam has several number of music instruments such as string instruments, drums, cymbals, pipes, flutes, etc. The traditional music is related to the Bihu songs and folk songs.

In Traditional craft work also they are making very different and rich one. Some of the crafts are like bamboo crafts, cane crafts, brass and bell metal crafts, cotton weaving and silk crafts, mask and toy making craft, terracotta and pottery work and also jewelry making, wood craft and musical instruments. Assam is also excellent in making traditional guns, gun powder, boats, colors, paints and ivory crafts. Some of famous tourist places are:
